Jane KingI’m very much a local girl, having been born in Hazlemere and attended Holmer Green Secondary Modern as it was known then.
I’ve lived in Holmer Green for the last 35 years with my husband Michael. I have two grown up children who went through all the Holmer Green schools. When the children were younger I helped run the Village Centre Playgroup, and then worked as a teaching and special needs assistant at the First School for many years. I’ve been involved with one of the Holmer Green Brownie packs for the last fifteen years. Now retired we seem busier then ever. I enjoy gardening and also have an allotment. I play guitar and ukulele with several organisations. I sing with Chorleywood Choral Society, singing on occasions at lovely cathedrals round Britain, Europe and the Albert Hall in London.
I have three lovely grandchildren who are my joy.
Jane Fallon
I am a recently retired midwife. I love gardening, dancing and cross-stitch. I am a Little Missenden Parish Councillor for Holmer Green. My hope is for the village to retain a strong community feeling.
Andrew HornsbyAndrew is a relative newcomer having moved to Holmer Green in 2013 with wife Carol to be nearer daughter and family. This is their 18th home so they plan to stay. He is a chartered engineer who has worked in property and facilities management as well as on large overseas projects and although no longer working full time still carries out assignments if they look interesting.
He's a governor at a local school (not in the village but attended by children from here) and volunteers for the National Trust at Hughenden Manor, once the home of Benjamin Disraeli.
Charles Padley
Charles has lived in Holmer Green since 1981, he has four daughters, who were all schooled in the area, Rosie his wife taught at the Middle School. Charles has worked in the Music Industry since his early twenties from record retail to Carlton Home Entertainment, the BBC and Naxos. He is currently working with Quartz Music, Carl Davis, Michael Nyman and Tony Banks.
Peter HealyEx PR man Peter Healy was born locally and has lived in Holmer Green with his wife Di, a local teacher, since 1978. Sadly Di passed away in september 2021. Peter has been involved in many local organisations including Holmer Green Village Centre and Holmer Green Players for many years and used to run the web site Holmergreen.info which is now integrated into the Village Society web site. Peter will be involved with operating the web site together with social media.
David RussellDavid sadly passed away in late October 2022.
Having moved house three times prior to landing in Holmer Green in 1982 ,I fully expected to move on 3 or 4 years later. Instead I remained and raised a family who were educated locally and have embarked on interesting careers. I have never had the urge to move again as I have found it such a pleasant place to live. I was encouraged by the 1989 Local Plan issued by Chiltern DC that recognised the need to maintain boundaries between Villages to preserve the Village identity which I believe is fundamental in helping residents take pride in their Village. Professionally I have run my own Architectural practice in Beaconsfield for the past 28 years and deal with Chiltern, Wycombe and South Bucks planning Depts. on a regular basis.
Penny ThickettHolmer Green has been Penny’s home since 1979. With Eric and their family they have tried to escape more than once but have chosen to stay put, moving twice inside the village itself. Over the years Penny has been involved in the early days of the Village Magazine, events at the Village Centre, the Fete and she has also been a School governor. Her two sons went to village schools, they have now grown up and live abroad. As a Social Science graduate Penny moved into education and for the past 25 years has worked as a Specialist Teacher in Education. For the last 17 years this has been as a private consultant. Penny enjoys art..... the houses on the Village logo were painted by her. She is enthusiastic about promoting an inclusive approach to village life, bringing together all the associations and societies that thrive in our village.
Brian Whitnall
Brian has lived in the village for over 30 years, and works (partially retired) as an electronics engineer in Aylesbury. He as acted as treasurer for a number of similar sized organisations, and has served on a local scouts group committee. He assists his wife Linda in her role as Wycombe Road Neighbourhood Watch Scheme Co-ordinator.
Chris Gregory
Chris moved to Holmer Green from Kent in April 2016 with his wife Bron (they ‘celebrated’ their Golden Wedding anniversary in lockdown earlier this year!), to be near their son and family in Amersham. Chris is by profession a management consultant, most of his career with British Gas then with one of the major consultancy firms in London. When he ‘retired’ from there, he became a tutor with Kent Adult Education, teaching adults to use IT. Following that he became a debt adviser with Citizens Advice and with not-for-profit West Kent Debt Advice. Before moving to Holmer Green Chris was also involved with the Neighbourhood Plan and other community projects where he lived. He is an active member of Holmer Green Baptist Church and runs CAP Money budgeting courses on behalf of the Churches Together in Holmer Green. Chris and Bron love walking in the lovely Chilterns countryside.
Stuart King
I have lived in Holmer Green since 1942 where I received all my schooling, leaving aged 15 to enter the local furniture industry. I have always enjoyed history and making things and from age 12 became interested in photography. In 1974 I became self-employed as a furniture restorer, craft demonstrator, international lecturer, and photojournalist. All this led to many TV appearances and an interest in local history that I enjoy to this day. I am a trustee of the Village Centre, Life President of the High Wycombe Society, Freeman of the City of London, and Freeman by Presentation of the Worshipful Company of Turners (Gold Medal) and also a Winston Churchill Fellow. Most of all I am a down to earth old villager willing to do my bit to retain that old village spirit and ethos.
Simon Jones
Simon has lived in Holmer Green since 1986 and previously grew up in Tylers Green and Penn. Simon spent 30 plus years working for the 3M company in
Bracknell and took early retirement in 2019 with the expectation of taking on a number of projects, hobbies and travelling. However, in the meantime Simon volunteers for the local Dial a ride charity and enjoys being around the area. In the past he organised the reclamation of the first school pond and lead a group of volunteers to lay the paths, build the dipping platform and plant the trees. He has a specific interest in the ways in which village societies can enhance the environment for locals and improve the village for all who live in the area.
